Ítem Acceso abierto Family violence and self-esteem in high school students of the educational institution José Carlos Mariátegui 6063, Villa El Salvador, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-07-19) Castañeda Escobedo, Jenny Antonia; Reyes Callahuacho, David TitoThe objective of the research was to determine the relationship between family violence and self-esteem in secondary school students. A quantitative, basic, descriptive-correlational approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design was used. The sample consisted of 187 students from José Carlos Mariátegui 6063 secondary school in Villa El Salvador. They were assessed with the Family Violence Questionnaire (CVIFA) and the Stanley Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory - School Form. The results indicated a significant inverse relationship (rho = -0.201), though with a very small effect size (r² = 0.004), between family violence and self-esteem. It was concluded that higher levels of family violence were associated with lower self-esteem, a situation that would be more evident if mediating variables such as loneliness or social anxiety were considered.
