Ítem Acceso abierto Risk factors associated with retinopathy in the preterm newborn, 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-02-07) Castillo Principe, Libny Rossmery; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaIntroduction: In the field of neonatology, the survival of very low weight premature babies has increased; Therefore, this produces an increase in the pathology of these children, among them is retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and its main causes are due to weight and gestational age, which is why the incidence is higher. Its first cause is childhood blindness, which accounts for 80% of cases worldwide. Objective: Determine the risk factors associated with retinopathy in premature newborns at the Dos de Mayo National Hospital, during the period January to April 2020. Methodology: A cross-sectional, descriptive study will be carried out. The study population will be made up of 30 clinical records of PTNBs from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, to which the questionnaire on “Factors associated with retinopathy in premature babies” will be applied as an instrument, in the neonatology service of the Hipólito Unánue National Hospital in the period from January to December 2017”, this comprises 11 items, which are grouped into 2 dimensions: general data and History of the newborn. The data obtained will be tabulated and statistically processed, applying the statistical package SPSS version 24.0 and Excel.
