    Nutritional supplementation with vitamin d in immunosuppressed tuberculosis patients

    Nutritional intervention is important for the recovery of malnourished patients with tuberculosis and those immunosuppressed. The objective was to identify the nutritional improvement variables due to vitamin D supplementation (micronutrient) in patients with tuberculosis and immunosuppressed individuals. The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE). The evidence and information were explored in PUBMED, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS, and SCIENCE DIRECT databases. For the critical review, an article with a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial titled "Efficacy of Vitamin D Supplementation for Preventing Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Mortality in HIV: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial" was selected. It has an AI level of evidence and a strong recommendation grade, according to the researcher’s expertise. The critical review concluded that the randomized double-blind trial is useful in answering the question and shows sufficient evidence that vitamin D supplementation has little significant effect, with similar results in the placebo-controlled groups.
