    This study aimed to determine the relationship between different types of enteral nutrition and body weight variation in premature newborns aged 35 to 36 weeks at the Neonatology Unit of Hospital II Luis Negreiros Vega, during the period July to December 2022. A quantitative approach was applied with an observational, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional basic design. The sample consisted of 100 medical records, and data were collected using a structured checklist. The statistical processing was performed with Excel 2016 and SPSS version 26. The results showed that 54% of the premature newborns were female and 46% male. The majority had a birth weight of 2200–2399 g (55%), followed by 2000–2199 g (31%) and 2400–2500 g (14%), with an average birth weight of 2268.04 g. In terms of weight gain, 95.8% of the infants fed with breast milk gained weight, compared to 91.8% with mixed enteral nutrition and 81.5% with formula feeding. In conclusion, premature newborns gained the most weight when fed with breast milk, followed by those with mixed enteral nutrition, and the least with formula feeding, demonstrating that breastfeeding is the best option for promoting weight gain in premature infants.
