Globally, obesity rates have doubled since 1980: currently, 39% of adults are overweight, and 13% are obese. The prevalence of obesity, overweight, and cardiovascular risk factors is increasing. Stress tests help determine functional capacity, recommend participation in activities, prescribe exercise, evaluate injuries, and establish a favorable prognosis.
