    Functional capacity and social support in patients from a public geriatric center, San Miguel, 2023

    A global phenomenon is demographic aging, which involves a gradual decline in functional capacities as people age, requiring support in their daily tasks. Additionally, a reduction in social participation has a negative effect on their overall well-being. A fragmented social environment can lead to negative emotions such as apathy and sadness, increasing the risk of developing issues that affect both physical and mental health and the ability to carry out daily activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between functional capacity and social support in patients at a public geriatric center. A non-experimental, applied methodology will be employed, using a correlational cross-sectional design, with the Barthel Index to assess functional capacity and the MOS Social Support Questionnaire to measure social support.
