    Nivel de conocimiento y actitud frente a la automedicación con antibióticos en los pacientes que acuden a boticas Jhosaro de Villa el Salvador, Lima – 2021

    Self-medication is a form of antibiotic misuse, and patients may engage in this practice due to a lack of knowledge, economic resources, among other reasons. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and attitude toward self-medication with antibiotics among patients visiting the Jhosaro drugstores in Villa el Salvador, Lima, in 2021. Methodology: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective study that used a validated questionnaire as the data collection instrument. The study sample consisted of 277 patients. Results: The level of knowledge about antibiotic self-medication among patients showed that 43% had a medium level of knowledge regarding self-medication with antibiotics, 45% had a high level of knowledge about antibiotic use, 27% had a medium level of knowledge about antibiotic side effects, and 47% showed a low level of knowledge about bacterial resistance. Regarding their attitude toward adverse reactions, 63% showed a very favorable attitude, while 50% showed an unfavorable attitude toward antibiotic use in the face of an illness. Conclusion: It was confirmed that 83% of the patients visiting Jhosaro drugstores have a high and medium level of knowledge about self-medication and present a favorable attitude.
