MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present research presents a descriptive cross-sectional, prospective design, with a quantitative approach, the population will be made up of all mothers of hospitalized preterm neonates, the sample will be made up of a representative portion of the population under study, it will be done under probabilistic sampling. simple and the number will be representative of the population under study, in this study the main variable is knowledge, this variable being qualitative in nature with an ordinal measurement scale. RESULTS: In Mexico, the effectiveness of an educational intervention on the value of breastfeeding for mothers of premature infants treated at a baby-friendly hospital. The objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention and maternal knowledge about breastfeeding. The study was quasi-experimental, with educational intervention, ambispective. Conclusions: A) EBF at 3 months of age was higher in the Experimental group. B) The level of maternal knowledge about BF was higher after the educational intervention. In Peru, a study was carried out on the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding the care of premature newborns at discharge - neonatology unit, here the level of knowledge: 84% is medium and 16% is high, while the 72% have a positive attitude and 28% have a medium attitude. Knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding related to the technique of breastfeeding the newborn of mothers admitted to the Hipólito Unanue Hospital in Tacna–2017 was studied. The result was that 56.5% of the mothers range between 18 and 29 years old, 63.7% have completed secondary school, 42.3% have a cohabiting marital status, and 48.2% are from Tacna. , 51.8% have low knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and 60.7% present signs of possible difficulty in the breastfeeding technique. CONCLUSIONS: This study will provide quantitative data on the level of mothers' knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding.
