(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Celis Rivera, Gianina; Pinedo Bahamonde, Isabel Maité; Chaparro Lituma, Maria Mercedes
Objective: To determine the factors associated with drug and alcohol consumption among 5th-year secondary school students in an educational institution in San Juan de Lurigancho. Methodology: This research is quantitative. The population consisted of 48 5th-year secondary school students from an educational institution in San Juan de Lurigancho. The study used the survey technique, and the instrument was a 26-question closed-ended questionnaire. The data were processed and tabulated using the SPSS Version 20 statistical program. Results: Of the adolescents, 77.8% consume alcohol and drugs frequently, while 33.3% do not consume alcohol but do consume drugs. Males predominate in alcohol and drug consumption. In most cases, families allow alcohol consumption. A smaller number of adolescents receive support in difficult times, yet they consume alcohol just as much as those who do not receive support. Friends demand alcohol consumption, and they feel superior when consuming it. Conclusions: The individual factors associated with alcohol consumption in adolescents are related to male sex, with higher consumption than female students. Most of them have been intoxicated at least once and have consumed other substances, such as drugs, consuming alcoholic beverages frequently. The family-related factors associated with alcohol consumption are that alcohol is permitted within the family. Family members provide support during difficult times, but they also consume alcohol. The social factors related to alcohol and drug consumption are that friends demand alcohol consumption, and consuming alcohol and drugs makes them feel superior. They perceive that alcoholism and drug addiction create addictions and cause harm; however, they still consume alcohol and some drugs.

Relationship between mothers' knowledge level about immunizations and the completion of vaccination schedules for children under five years old at the Magdalena health center, November 2010.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2011) Gamarra Cuenca Victoria, Diana Luz; Silva Sandoval, Abel; Chaparro Lituma, Maria Mercedes
The present research paper, titled Relationship Between Mothers' Knowledge of Immunizations and the Compliance with the Vaccination Schedule for Children Under Five Years of Age at the Magdalena Health Center, November 2010, aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about immunizations of mothers with children under five years old and the compliance with the vaccination schedule at the Magdalena Health Center. Material and Methods: This is a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational study design. A sample was selected using simple random probability sampling, resulting in a sample of 80 mothers who agreed to participate in the study after providing informed consent. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire, with personalized interviews as the technique. Regarding the level of knowledge mothers of children under five years old who attend the Magdalena Health Center have about immunizations, 50% (40) possess an average level of knowledge; 33.75% (27) have a low level; and 16.25% (13) have a high level. This inclination and trend are consistent with the findings in the studied dimension “General Concepts about Immunizations and Vaccines,” where 52.5% (42) had an average knowledge level, and 61.25% (49) had a medium level in the dimension “Vaccination Schedule.” Additionally, 55% (44) of the participants interrupted the vaccination schedule. The most frequent reason was the child’s health issues (27.5%). Furthermore, when contrasting the study variables, it was concluded that a higher level of knowledge leads to better compliance with the vaccination schedule (p = 0.008 < 0.05). However, no significant association was found regarding knowledge based on occupation, origin, and mother’s educational level.
