Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilization in Medical Devices with Lumens(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-04-07) Asencio Toribio, Anajulia; Chauca Rios, Melanie Diandra; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: To systematically analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of the use of hydrogen peroxide for the sterilization of medical devices with lumens. Materials and Methods: Systematic review where the search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were subjected to critical reading, using the grade system to assign the strength of recommendation. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, 40%(4) correspond to Brazil, 20%(2) correspond to the United States, 30%(3) correspond to Germany and 10%(1) Austria. Of the studies reviewed, 90% were randomized controlled trials, coming mainly from Brazil, the United States, Germany, Austria, and 10% was a systematic review that searched for randomized clinical trials from Brazil. Of the total articles analyzed, 70%(7) affirm the effectiveness of the use of hydrogen peroxide in the sterilization of medical devices with lumens, however, 30%(3) prove to be effective as long as an appropriate procedure is carried out. cleaning and drying, to ensure adequate sterilization. Conclusions: 7 out of 10 investigations showed that the use of hydrogen peroxide is effective if used in appropriate conditions for the sterilization of medical devices with lumens.
