Ítem Acceso abierto Safety of the Veress needle insertion technique vs. direct trocar insertion to reduce complications in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Bravo Diaz, Rosa Maria; Chero Ordoñez, Liliana Milagros; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To analyze the available evidence from studies on the safety of the Veress needle entry technique versus the direct trocar insertion technique to reduce complications in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic surgeries. Materials and Methods: A systematic, observational, and retrospective review. The selected articles underwent critical reading, using the GRADE system evaluation to identify their level of evidence. The final selection included 11 scientific articles, with 18.2% being systematic reviews, 9% meta-analyses, 27.3% randomized and non-randomized clinical trials, and 18.2% descriptive studies, with high evidence quality in 82% of the articles. Results: Additionally, 64% of the studies demonstrate that the direct trocar insertion technique is safe for reducing complications in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic surgeries. Furthermore, 27% of studies suggest that there is no significant difference between the Veress needle and direct trocar techniques, and 9% mention the Veress needle as a safe insertion technique for obese patients undergoing laparoscopy. Conclusions: It is established that the safest insertion technique to reduce complications in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic surgeries is direct trocar insertion, with the surgeon's experience being a relevant factor for the success and safety of this technique.Ítem Acceso abierto Safety of the Veress needle insertion technique vs. direct trocar insertion to reduce complications in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Bravo Diaz, Rosa Maria; Chero Ordoñez, Liliana Milagros; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To analyze the available evidence from studies on the safety of the Veress needle entry technique versus the direct trocar insertion technique to reduce complications in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic surgeries.
