Ítem Acceso abierto Effect of physical exercise on quality of life in adult patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-05-29) Chipana Pacco, Yesenia; Ponce Castillo, Diana AntoniaScientific evidence supports the notion that physical exercise during hemodialysis can benefit patients with chronic kidney disease. The research in question, titled 'Critical Review: Impact of Physical Exercise on the Quality of Life of Adults with Chronic Kidney Disease on Hemodialysis', aimed to evaluate this impact. The key question was: How does physical exercise during hemodialysis affect the quality of life of adults with chronic kidney disease? The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE), and 127 articles were reviewed from PUBMED, SCIELO, and SCIENCE DIRECT. After critical evaluation with CASPE, a randomized clinical trial titled 'Effects of Intradialytic Exercise on Dialysis Parameters, Health-Related Quality of Life, and Depressive Status in Hemodialysis Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial' was selected. This study, supported by evidence AI and a strong degree of recommendation, concluded that a 12-week intradialytic exercise program, including supine cycling three times a week for 30 minutes, improves health-related quality of life (ß = 22.6, p <0.001). It is recommended to start exercise 30 minutes after the initiation of hemodialysis, following hemodynamic evaluation.
