Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of demonstration sessions to improve self-care and prevent complications in type II diabetes(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-08) Tomairo Huamanraime, Pilar Corina; Choquehuanca Mezarina, Marilyn Viky; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: To analyze the evidence regarding the effectiveness of demonstrative sessions to improve self-care and prevent complications in Type II diabetes. Materials and Methods: Regarding study designs, it was found that of the 10 articles reviewed, 3 (30%) were systematic reviews, 6 (60%) were randomized clinical trials, and 1 (10%) was quasi-experimental. Regarding the quality of evidence, it was found that of the 10 articles reviewed (100%), 9 (90%) had a high level, and 1 (10%) had a moderate level. According to the strength of recommendation, 9 (90%) articles were strong, and 1 (10%) was medium. Regarding the country of origin of the published articles, it was found that of the 10 articles reviewed (100%), 4 (40%) were from Brazil, followed by Spain (30%), Chile (10%), Japan (10%), and the United States (10%). Results: The results showed that 100% of the analyzed articles confirmed the effectiveness of demonstrative sessions in improving self-care and preventing complications. Conclusion: Demonstrative sessions on topics such as diabetes, causes and symptoms, risk factors, and prevention are effective in improving self-care and preventing complications.
