Ítem Acceso abierto Cognitive decline and quality of life in elderly adults at the Social Organization Association of the Elderly, Villa Los Reyes, Ventanilla 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-29) Chuquipul Mendoza, Pamela Leonor; Izaguirre Martínez, Carito Maydel; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: Determine the relationship between cognitive impairment and the quality of life of the Elderly of the Social Organization Association of the Elderly, Villa los Reyes, Ventanilla 2018. Material and methods: The type of study was quantitative and the study design was correlational and cross-sectional, the population was 120 and the sample was 50 older adults, the instrument used was the survey, Mini Mental Test and the SF36. Results: It was observed that older adults have moderate cognitive impairment with 70%; Regarding its dimensions such as orientation in time it had 84%, orientation in space 58%, language/nomination 46% and attention/calculation 46%; On the other hand, the Quality of life showed that the category that prevailed is the average with 88%, in relation to its dimensions, physical function presented 74%, Body Pain dimension 80%, General Health dimension 60%, Vitality dimension 86 %, Social Function dimension 70%, Mental Health dimension 78%, Health Transition dimension 70%, thus resulting in a high quality of life. To establish the relationship between Cognitive Impairment and Quality of Life, the Chi-square statistical test was applied, which gave a result of 0.337, which means there is no significant relationship between both variables. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is no relationship between cognitive impairment and quality of life, the majority of older adults have moderate cognitive impairment and average quality of life.
