Publicación Acceso abierto Factores asociados a la automedicación y reacciones adversas de los antiinflamatorios no esteroideos en el asentamiento humano Villa Solidaridad, San Juan de Miraflores-2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-08-25) Churampi Moreno, Ibeth Nora; Monroy Apaza, Delia Rosa; Alvarado Chávez, BrittOur research aimed to determine the factors associated with self-medication and adverse reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the human settlement Villa Solidaridad, San Juan de Miraflores, 2021. Methodology: This was a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study with a sample of 336 residents, and the survey was used as the technique. Results: 98.8% of the surveyed population self-medicated. The reasons for this action included 65.1% citing lack of time, with 39.8% reporting headaches as the main symptom. Influences came from family and/or friends in 69.9% of cases. The frequency of self-medication was once a month for 62.3%. The age range was 47.0% between 26 and 40 years old, with 52.38% being female, 89.29% single, and 74.11% having higher education. Socioeconomically, 83.93% were employed, 55.95% had a medium income, and 36.31% had a low income. Regarding healthcare, 39.58% had Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS), while 31.55% had no health insurance. A total of 63.9% were unaware of the risks of self-medication, 97.6% had no knowledge of the adverse effects of NSAID self-medication, and 100% of the surveyed population considered the information provided by the pharmacist about the medication they purchased important. Conclusion: Sociodemographic, economic, and cultural factors influence the high prevalence of self-medication, with the main reason being a lack of awareness about the adverse effects of NSAIDs.
