Design: The study was a systematic review with a qualitative approach, the selection of articles referring to the research topic was carried out through from an electronic search. Scope of study: The development of the research was carried out through an exhaustive review of scientific studies published in different databases, indexed journals were also considered. The scientific articles used were cohort, case-control, cross-sectional or longitudinal, analytical, observational and descriptive studies. Study subjects: For the study, 32 articles were selected as scientific evidence. Determinations: Hormonal contraceptive methods is the independent variable and abandonment of hormonal contraceptive methods is the dependent variable. Results: Of the factors addressed for abandoning hormonal contraceptive methods, we have: Personal factor such as age, side effects, adverse effects, parity, number of children and pathological history. Cultural factors such as education, origin, language, occupation and work. Social factors such as the influence of husband, peers and lack or inadequate advice on contraceptive methods.
