Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge about the kangaroo method and attitudes of mothers in the neonatology service of an EsSalud hospital, Lima, 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-07) Collazos Huamantumba, Luisa Celia; Montoro Valdivia, Marcos AntonioThe kangaroo care is a nursing care protocol that aims to establish a bond between the mother and the newborn. This bonding process creates positive effects on temperature, breastfeeding, and attachment, which in turn promotes rapid recovery of the neonate. Caring for a premature newborn is complex due to the needs and vulnerability of the newborn. This research study will aim to establish the “relationship between knowledge about the kangaroo method and the attitudes of mothers in the neonatology service”. The approach used is a cross-sectional, quantitative, applied, non-experimental design that is based on the hypothetico-deductive reasoning. The entire population, including the neonatology area, which includes 70 mothers, will serve as a sample. For the knowledge variable, the researchers will use a 14-item questionnaire on mothers' familiarity with kangaroo care; For the attitude’s variable, they will use a 10-item questionnaire on the actual use of the approach by mothers. We will use descriptive and correlational statistics to analyze the data.
