Ítem Acceso abierto Dyspnea and respiratory muscle strength in post covid-19 patients at the Honorio Delgado Espinoza Regional Hospital, Arequipa 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-04-22) Collazos Piscoya, Enrique Manuel; Chero Pisfil, Santos LucioIn 2021, the post-COVID-19 syndrome was well understood in terms of how it affects those who have survived COVID-19 at various levels of disease severity, both in adults and children, as well as in patients who were not hospitalized. The most frequently mentioned symptoms in various studies were dyspnea and fatigue, which can last for months after acute COVID-19. Currently, there is limited literature analyzing the possible pathophysiology, risk factors, and treatments for prolonged COVID cases. This can lead to long-term tissue damage in organs such as the brain, lungs, and heart. Risk factors associated with prolonged COVID include female sex, prior psychiatric disorders, specific biomarkers, and early-onset dyspnea. Further research is needed to verify these risk factors (1). Based on the above, this study seeks to find a relationship between the variables of dyspnea and respiratory muscle strength in post-COVID-19 patients at the Honorio Delgado Espinoza Regional Hospital in Arequipa in 2022.
