Publicación Acceso abierto Uso de plantas medicinales en el tratamiento de enfermedades respiratorias en estudiantes del primer ciclo de Farmacia y Bioquímica de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima–2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-02-17) Colqui Ferrer, Miriam Sara; Juan de Dios Colqui, Jamil Bill; Félix Véliz, Luis Miguel VisitaciónThe present research work titled “Use of Medicinal Plants in the Treatment of Respiratory Diseases in First-Cycle Pharmacy and Biochemistry Students at Norbert Wiener University, Lima – 2022,” aims to: Objective: “Determine the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of respiratory diseases in first-cycle Pharmacy and Biochemistry students at Norbert Wiener University, Lima, 2022.” Methodology: A descriptive univariate and cross-sectional study with a population of 200 first-cycle students, based on the virtual survey technique and questionnaire instrument. Data was processed in tables and graphs using SPSS 25 and Excel. Results: It was determined that the 200 surveyed students use seven types of medicinal plants for the treatment of respiratory diseases, with the following distribution: 20.50% use eucalyptus, 19.00% ginger and borage, 17.50% plantain, 11.00% scorzonera, 9.50% asmachilca, and 3.50% molle. The preferred methods of preparation of medicinal plants were: infusion (38.00%), decoction (23.50%), maceration (15.50%), and inhalation (14.00%). These plants were used to treat respiratory diseases such as the common cold (19.50%), rhinitis (15.50%), rhinosinusitis and pharyngitis (12.50%), asthma (11.50%), bronchitis (10.00%), tonsillitis (9.50%), and pneumonia (9.00%). Conclusion: Statistically, it was determined that medicinal plants were used, with five out of the seven species mentioned—eucalyptus, ginger, borage, plantain, and scorzonera—being the most utilized and effective.
