Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: effect of early enteral nutrition in the postoperative period of patients with gastric cancer undergoing oncological surgery(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-25) Concha Rossi, Rocío Liliana; Palma Gutiérrez, Edgardo JhoffireIt is presumed that early initiation of enteral nutrition in patients with gastric cancer who have undergone gastrectomy would improve some clinical outcomes. The present secondary research entitled "Critical Review: Effect of early enteral nutrition in the postoperative period of patients with gastric cancer undergoing oncological surgery", aimed to analyze the effects (clinical outcomes and nutritional aspects) of early enteral nutrition 24 or 48 hours after oncological surgery in patients with gastric cancer. The clinical question was: Does early enteral nutrition improve clinical outcomes and nutritional aspects in patients with gastric cancer undergoing oncological surgery? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in Scielo, Pubmed, Mdpi, Jboun, Ncbi, Science Direct, Hindawi, thus finding 21 articles, 10 being selected, which were evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the clinical trial titled as: “Effect of Early Enteral Nutrition Support Combined with Chemotherapy on Related Complications and Immune Function of Patients after Radical Gastrectomy”, which has a level of evidence AI and grade of recommendation strong, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that the early start of enteral nutrition could improve certain nutritional components such as total protein and blood albumin, level of immune cells, as well as total drainage through gastric tube and hospitalization time; although additional research is required to corroborate these results.
