Publicación Acceso abierto Nivel de conocimiento de la enfermedad del Covid – 19 y automedicación en adultos mayores de 18 años en la provincia de Pisco, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-08-25) Contreras Alfaro, Carmen Lucía; Hermoza Moquillaza, Rocío VictoriaCOVID-19 increases mortality in the population due to poor information and lack of specific treatment, leading to the dissemination of misinformation that promotes selfmedication as a preventive or treatment measure. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of COVID-19 disease and self-medication in adults over 18 years of age. It is a hypothetico-deductive applied research with a quantitative approach and a crosssectional and correlational non-experimental design. Its probabilistic sample was 384 people, and data collection was performed using 2 instruments, which measure the level of knowledge of the disease COVID-19 and self-medication. It was observed that 72.4% have inadequate knowledge of the disease COVID-19; and 27.6%, adequate knowledge. Likewise, of the persons with adequate knowledge of COVID-19, 74.5% present mild self-medication, 16% moderate and none severe; however, of the persons with inadequate knowledge, 47.5% have mild self-medication, 16.9% moderate level and 2.5%, severe self-medication. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of the disease COVID-19 presented by the inhabitants of the province of Pisco and self-medication, in addition to the fact that the inhabitants with inadequate knowledge of COVID-19 present mild, moderate and a small amount of severe self-medication.
