Ítem Acceso abierto Motor function and quality of life in schoolchildren with Down syndrome from a special school, Chimbote - Peru, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-05) Cornelio Prudencio, Julissa Aracely; Granados Carrera, Julio CesarIn children with Down syndrome, the acquisition of motor function differs from that of children with typical motor development, caused by the development of their central nervous system, the presence of primitive reflexes, hypotonia, and joint hypermobility. These factors generate delays in achieving milestones such as rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking. Due to delays in motor skills, their quality of life may be affected, impacting physical, emotional, social, and academic functionality. Therefore, it is essential to understand how motor function and quality of life are related in children with this condition, as it will help establish physiotherapy intervention strategies that positively impact both motor function and quality of life. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between motor function and quality of life in children with Down syndrome, using a hypothetical-deductive study approach, a quantitative applied design, and a correlational non-experimental design. The Motor Function Measure (GMFM 88) will be used to assess motor function, and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL 4.0) will be used to assess quality of life.
