    Benefits of probiotics in colorectal cancer

    The present secondary research entitled as a critical review: “Benefits of probiotics in colorectal cancer”, aimed to identify the benefits of probiotics in patients with colorectal cancer. The clinical question was: Will probiotics produce benefits in adults over 50 years of age who suffer from colorectal cancer? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PubMed, Scielo, HINARI and LILACS, finding 31 articles, 5 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Prospective Controlled Clinical Trial titled “Usage of Probiotics and its Clinical Significance at Surgically Treated Patients Suffering from Colorectal carcinoma” which has a level of evidence I and Grade of Recommendation I, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that there are great benefits of probiotics, since by regulating the intestinal microbiota, they have a positive impact on the health of the patient with colorectal cancer, both at the digestive and extra-digestive levels.
