    The objective of the study is to determine how vaginal infection is associated with preterm birth. Likewise, the study method used was of the deductive type with a quantitative approach, analytical correlational and the design was nonexperimental. In the study, the population consisted of 145 medical records of patients who ended in preterm birth attended at the Inkawasi Health Center in 2021. The results were: 36% of the patients who presented infectious vaginitis were between 12 and 19 years old. and the patients who did not present infectious vaginitis had the same age range, 48% of the patients with infectious vaginitis were of married marital status, in the same way it was found in 45% of the patients with non-infectious vaginitis, 61.6% of the patients who presented infectious vaginitis had secondary level studies in the same way, it was found in 85% of the patients with non-infectious vaginitis, 70.4% of the patients with infectious vaginitis had between week 32 to 36 of pregnancy in the same way a 60% of women with non-infectious vaginitis and 70.4% of patients with infectious vaginitis triggered late preterm deliveries. In the correlation analysis, it was found for the dimension infectious vaginitis (0.634, p=0.40) and non-infectious vaginitis (0.914, p=0.009). In conclusion, there is a significant and direct correlation between vaginal infection and preterm birth in women treated at the Inkawasi Health Center.
