Self-care and quality of life in adult patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis in a private clinic in Lima, 2022

Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) clarifies that 10% of the population in the world is affected by chronic kidney disease that is equivalent to 850 million people due to various factors, causing 2.4 million deaths; in Latin America, the incidence of patients in renal replacement therapy is 162 patients per million population; in Peru 11% of the population with chronic kidney disease, is responsible for 31 924 years of life lost due to premature death, this has led to a decrease in the quality of life in people suffering from this disease that is appeased with self-care measures based on good nutrition, permanent disease control, Effective hydration and strengthening of interpersonal relationships. Objective: To determine the relationship between self-care and quality of life in adult patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis in a private clinic in Lima. Method: The research will use the hypothetical-deductive method, with quantitative approach, applied type, nonexperimental design, descriptive level correlational with population and sample for convenience of 120 adult patients with chronic renal failure submitted to hemodialysis in a private clinic during the month of December 2022 in the department of Lima. He will use the "Self-Care Questionnaire in Patients with Renal Insufficiency on Hemodialysis" adapted and validated by Peruvian researchers Lic. Citnee Briceño and Lic. Giovanny Chinchay, and the questionnaire "Quality of Life in Patients with Renal Failure on Hemodialysis" adapted and validated by Peruvian researchers Lic. Paola Guzmán, Lic. Rosa Moreno and Lic. Jacqueline Muro; both with high validity and reliability.
