    Velocidad de sedimentación globular en la evolución de pacientes COVID-19 atendidos en el centro de salud Clas Nuevo Lurin 2021

    The main objective of our research was to determine the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) values in COVID-19 patients with comorbidities who were treated at the CLAS Nuevo Lurín Health Center. ESR is a useful test for diagnosing acute inflammatory processes and serves as an important diagnostic criterion for chronic diseases like polymyalgia rheumatica. It measures the sedimentation rate of red blood cells in a blood plasma sample, which is prepared with a citrate solution or EDTA (ethylenediaminotetraacetic acid) and measured over one hour. The study's model is a quantitative experimental research approach with a clinical analysis design that is cross-sectional and observational. Data were collected over a five-month period from a sample of 45 adult patients between 20 and 65 years old with COVID-19. For the blood test, the materials used included lancets, blue heparin-free capillaries, cotton, 70% alcohol, sealing wax, a ruler, gloves, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The clinical analysis was performed using a capillary method, which involved a finger puncture, sealing the capillary, and placing it vertically. After one hour, the value was measured with a ruler. An informed consent form was completed for each patient to guarantee confidentiality. The study found an elevation in ESR values that were related to the patients' diagnoses, highlighting that this method provides an initial diagnostic tool for various pathologies, and its results require careful interpretation and continuous monitoring.
