Ítem Acceso abierto Characteristics of the abandonment of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers of children aged 0 to 6 months attended at José Agurto Tello Hospital.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Bendezú Moreno, Vilma Erika; Chirinos Sánchez, Claudia Analiza; Cruz Pardo, Luz MaríaObjective: To determine the functional capacity level of elderly individuals attending the Day Hospital at Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 156 elderly individuals over 60 years of age between July and December 2012, using the Barthel index and the Lawton and Brody scale. Results: The majority were female. The age ranged from 61 to 95 years, with a high percentage of individuals aged 80 years or older. The marital status was predominantly married, and the education level was primarily primary. Regarding the Activities of Daily Living (ADL), 50.7% exhibited mild dependence, with a higher prevalence in females. Additionally, 98.1% of the elderly required assistance with eating and moving, 38.5% needed some help with climbing stairs, and 19.9% were independent when taking baths. For the Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), 11.5% showed maximum dependence, with females dominating in all levels; 59.6% required help with shopping, and 51.9% needed assistance with meal preparation. 87.8% were able to use the telephone independently. Conclusion: The majority of elderly patients were female and aged 80 or older, with a predominance of married individuals and those with primary education. In terms of ADL, more than half showed some level of dependence (mild, moderate, severe, or total), while for IADL, approximately three-quarters of the respondents were dependent (mild, moderate, severe, or maximum).Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of an educational intervention on healthy lunchbox knowledge and content for preschoolers' mothers(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Quilca Calatayud, Gissella Mercedes; Ramírez Aliaga, Roxana; Cruz Pardo, Luz MaríaGeneral Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on knowledge of healthy lunchboxes and their contents among mothers of preschool children at the Patricia Teresa Rodríguez 3019 Educational Institution in Rímac, 2015. Materials and Methods: This study adopted a quantitative approach, with a pre-experimental and longitudinal design. The sample consisted of 25 mothers from the Patricia Teresa Rodríguez 3019 School – UGEL 02 Rímac. The instrument used was a questionnaire, and the data were processed using the Excel program, with descriptive statistics applied. Results: Before the educational intervention (EI), 52% (13) of the mothers had a low level of knowledge about healthy lunchboxes; after the EI, 100% (25) reached a high level. Before the EI, 68% (17) had a low level of knowledge about types of foods; after the EI, 96% (24) reached a high level. Before the EI, 56% (14) had a low level of knowledge about healthy lunchbox preparation methods, and 44% (11) had a medium level; after the EI, 100% (25) reached a high level. Before the EI, 64% (16) had a low level of knowledge about the contents of healthy lunchboxes; after the educational intervention, 100% (25) of the mothers achieved a high level. Conclusion: The educational intervention was effective in enhancing the mothers' knowledge about healthy lunchboxes, as improvements were observed in their understanding after participating, with all mothers achieving a high level of knowledge.Ítem Acceso abierto Lifestyle of the faculty members of the School of Professional Nursing at the Private Norbert Wiener University, 2015(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Carrión Ocampo, Marina Consuelo; Salazar Gutierrez, Rosa Evelyn; Cruz Pardo, Luz MaríaThe objective was to determine the lifestyle patterns of faculty members at the Professional Nursing School of the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015. The study was quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective. The sample consisted of 96 faculty members from the Professional Nursing School at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener during the 2015-I academic semester, who taught both theory and practice. The instrument used was the Lifestyle Scale questionnaire, developed by Walker, Sechrist, and Pender in 1990, and modified by Arrivillaga, M. Salazar, and Gómez, I. (2002). Data processing was done using SPSS version 21 and Microsoft Excel, with descriptive statistics. The results showed that 99% (95) of the faculty members were female, and 1% (1) was male. 54.16% (52) had an unhealthy lifestyle, while 45.83% (44) had a healthy lifestyle. Regarding the nutrition dimension, 82.29% (79) were healthy; in the physical activity dimension, 84.37% (81) were unhealthy; in the stress management dimension, 92.70% (89) were healthy; in the interpersonal support dimension, 100% (96) were healthy; and in the health control dimension, 80.20% (77) were healthy.Ítem Acceso abierto Satisfaction level of caregivers regarding the quality of care in the growth and development control strategy at the Surquillo Health Center(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Aira Flores, Ruth Yaqueline; Caycho Ordoñez, Elizabeth Rocío; Cruz Pardo, Luz MaríaThe objective was to determine the level of satisfaction of caregivers regarding the quality of care in the growth and development control strategy (CRED) at the Surquillo Health Center, 2015. The study was descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective. Materials and Methods: To collect data, the SERVQUAL survey modified for health establishments was used through the Microsoft Excel 2010 program, with the Epi Info application, validated according to RM 52-2011 MINSA. The sample consisted of 84 caregivers from the Surquillo Health Center in the CRED strategy. Data processing was performed using the technical guide software for external user satisfaction evaluation. The data analysis was expressed in percentages for each evaluation criterion of quality. Results: Of the 84 caregivers surveyed at the Surquillo Health Center in the CRED strategy, it was determined that 67.3% were dissatisfied with the quality of care provided at the center, and 32.7% indicated they were satisfied. The satisfaction levels according to the dimensions considered were as follows: the highest satisfaction was found in the safety dimension with 51.2%, but dissatisfaction was observed in the reliability dimension (72.86%), responsiveness (76.19%), empathy (69.5%), and tangibles (67.26%). Conclusions: According to the obtained results, it can be concluded that there is dissatisfaction with the quality of care in the CRED strategy, as perceived by the caregivers.Ítem Acceso abierto Sociodemographic, cultural, and family characteristics of pregnant adolescents at the National Hospital Daniel A. Carrión, Callao 2015.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Fernandez Sobrados, July; Cruz Pardo, Luz MaríaObjective: To determine the characteristics of patients who abandoned tuberculosis treatment at the Infantas San Martín de Porres Health Center in 2015. Materials and Methods: This was a mixed-method, cross-sectional, and descriptive study. The sample consisted of 20 patients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis who attended the National Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Tuberculosis and were enrolled in all treatment schemes during 2015. Data collection was done through a questionnaire, and data processing was performed with SPSS software. Results: Treatment abandonment was predominantly in males (80%), 75% were aged between 18 and 25 years, 85% were single, 50% had incomplete secondary education, 70% had an income between 750 and 1000 soles, 60% consumed alcohol, 25% smoked cigarettes, and 10% used drugs (marijuana). 100% of the population experienced side effects from anti-tuberculosis medications such as nausea, vomiting, and other digestive discomforts. Conclusion: The characteristics associated with treatment abandonment included a predominance of males, moderate income, alcohol consumption, and side effects from anti-tuberculosis medications.
