Ítem Acceso abierto Benefit of immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth for the achievement and maintenance of exclusive breastfeeding in newborns.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-19) Cucchi Torres, Nilda Victoria; Cruzado Flores, Karen Milagros; Matta Solis, Hernan HugoObjective: Systematically review the available results of studies conducted on the benefit of skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth for achieving and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding in newborns. Material and Method: The systematic review of the 10 original primary studies was found in the following databases: Epistemonikos, TriData-Base, PlosOne, Pubmed, Cochrane Library. Each of these studies was examined to determine their strength and quality of evidence according to the Grade scale. Results: Out of the 30 articles analyzed that formed part of the population in this study, 10 were selected to make up the sample, with methodological qualities such as meta-analysis, systematic reviews, and randomized controlled studies. Of the 10 studies systematically analyzed, 100% (10) demonstrate the benefit of immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth in achieving and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding in newborns, showing not only the benefit of this procedure but also its impact on the health of the mother-child dyad. Conclusions: All 10 articles analyzed show evidence of the benefit of skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth for achieving and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding in newborns.
