Family support is very important, and even more so during the pandemic, public safety requires restricting the physical presence of families of hospitalized patients AND they must quickly adapt family-centered procedures and tools to circumvent restrictions on physical presence. Likewise, physical or social distancing in the world is the main mitigation strategy used to reduce transmission in the COVID-19 pandemic. Family members of critically ill patients have important needs in this period of crisis AND it is important to recognize these needs and evaluate how they are met, the total care of the patient that will involve the family. Family members are those who suffer from psychological crises, stress and depression as a consequence of their family members being admitted to this unit, which is usually an unforeseen event and intended for people in critical clinical condition with the potential for high mortality.
