    Reacciones adversas medicamentosas en pacientes psiquiátricos hospitalizados en el Instituto de Salud Mental Honorio Delgado – Hideyo Noguchi. Enero-julio. Lima 2022

    Objective: To determine the incidence of adverse drug reactions in hospitalized psychiatric patients at the Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi National Institute of Mental Health, Lima, from January to July 2022. Methodology: This was a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, non-experimental study. The sample consisted of 214 patients. Data collection was based on a structured record that included prescribed medications, clinical manifestations of adverse reactions, signs and symptoms, and associated factors such as age, sex, and diagnosis. Results: The incidence of adverse reactions in hospitalized patients was determined to be 200 cases (93.5%), of which 81 cases (37.9%) were female and 133 cases (62.1%) were male. The highest incidence was observed in the age group of 25-39 years, with 104 cases (48.6%), followed by the 18-24 years and 40-64 years age groups, each with 25.7%. Among diagnoses, paranoid schizophrenia accounted for 135 cases (63.1%), followed by addictions with 28 cases (13.1%), depressive disorders with 23 cases (10.7%), and bipolar disorder with 23 cases (10.7%). Among psychotropic drugs, atypical antipsychotics were the most prevalent with 147 cases (68.7%), followed by typical antipsychotics with 37 cases (17.3%). Quetiapine was the most frequently prescribed medication with 46 cases (21.5%), followed by risperidone 2 mg with 45 cases (21.0%). Conclusion: The incidence determined by the study was 93 per 100,000 patients.
