    The objective of this research was to establish the relationship between rumination and academic stress of students at a private university in Lima, 2022. The methodology is framed in the quantitative approach, the method is the hypothetical deductive, correlational level with a design not cross-sectional experimental. The technique to obtain the information was the survey and the instruments used were the ruminative response questionnaire by Hernández- Martínez et al. (2016) and Barraza's academic stress questionnaire (2007); Both instruments were validated by 5 experts and presented high reliability. The study sample, selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling, was made up of 80 students from IX and X cycle of nutrition and dietetics. The data obtained showed statistical results p=0.000 < 0.05 and Rho= 0.467, reaching the conclusion that ruminative responses are positively related to a level of correlation of moderate intensity with academic stress.
