Publicación Acceso abierto Estudio de las características de prescripción y dispensación de antimicrobianos en farmacias y boticas del distrito de Ate Vitarte de diciembre 2017–marzo 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-23) Cusipuma Molina, Zunilda; Omareda Vargas, Norma Martha; Caldas Herrera, EmmaThe present study aimed to determine the prescription and dispensing characteristics of antimicrobials in pharmacies and drugstores in the Ate Vitarte district from December 2017 to March 2018. Materials and Methods: The study was descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional. Data were collected from 336 medical prescriptions containing antimicrobials using the care and dispensing forms of the DIGEMID study protocol. Results: A total of 404 antimicrobials were observed. The average number of antimicrobials per prescription was 1.2, with 81% of prescriptions containing a single antimicrobial. Injectable formulations accounted for 16% (63) of prescriptions. Among the antimicrobials, 52.0% (211) were included in the National List of Essential Medicines, and 33% (133) were restricted-use antimicrobials. The use of international nonproprietary names was 60% (241), dosage was recorded in 94% (379), administration frequency in 92% (373), and treatment duration in 93% (377). Conclusion: The prescription and dispensing characteristics of antimicrobials in pharmacies and drugstores in the Ate Vitarte district showed values below the expected targets established according to the DIGEMID study protocol.
