Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge level about newborn care in adolescent mothers at the adolescent mother service: Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé – Lima(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Aslla Clavijo, Odalis Felicitas; Cutipa Quijhua, Olga; Salazar De La Torre, Milagros EmperatrizThis research study aimed to determine the level of knowledge about newborn care among adolescent mothers in the adolescent mother service at the National Mother-Child Teaching Hospital San Bartolomé – Lima. The study type was descriptive, prospective, and cross-sectional. The technique used was the survey, and the instrument was a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 53 adolescent mothers, aged 10 to 19, hospitalized in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service (Adolescent Mother Service) at the National Mother-Child Teaching Hospital San Bartolomé – Lima. Conclusions: The majority (52.8%) of adolescent mothers had a medium level of knowledge. Furthermore, 71.7% of the adolescent mothers were between the ages of 17 and 19, indicating that they were not adequately prepared to take on the responsibility of caring for and raising a newborn, due to their ongoing process of development and formation, as they have not yet naturally completed a fundamental stage of their lives. Additionally, 60.4% of the adolescent mothers were engaged in household tasks. Adolescent mothers need guidance from nursing professionals to provide care for their newborns and ensure their well-being.
