    Evaluación del cumplimiento de las buenas practicas de prescripción en el área de farmacia de emergencia del Hospital de Huaycan. Enero–marzo 2016

    Objective: The objective of this descriptive study was to verify compliance with Good Prescribing Practices in medical prescriptions dispensed at the Emergency Pharmacy Area of Hospital de Huaycán during the period from January to March 2016. Methodology: This is a descriptive–retrospective study with an observational, cross-sectional design. A total of 25,060 medical prescriptions dispensed at the Emergency Pharmacy Area of Hospital de Huaycán were reviewed and subsequently analyzed to detect deficiencies according to a checklist based on the Manual of Good Prescribing Practices of the Ministry of Health of Peru. Results: Of the prescriptions dispensed, it was found that out of 25,060 (100%), 23,890 (95.35%) contained at least one deficiency. The types of deficiencies in Good Prescribing Practices found at high percentages were those related to patient information (surname and given name, gender, age, and diagnosis) in 95.33%; deficiencies related to medication data (frequency and duration of treatment) in 32.6% (failure to specify treatment duration); and deficiencies related to handwriting legibility in 26%. Conclusion: There is a high percentage of deficiencies in compliance with Good Prescribing Practices.
