Prescripción, dispensación y expendio de antibióticos en farmacias y boticas del km 40, distrito de Lurín, enero–junio 2017

The study conducted on the prescription, dispensing, and sale of antibiotics in pharmacies and drugstores at kilometer 40, Lurín District, from January to June 2017, had as its objective to determine the prescription, dispensing, and sale of antibiotics in pharmacies and drugstores at kilometer 40, Lurín District, during the period January–June 2017. Methodological design: The study was descriptive, with an observational, cross-sectional, and prospective design. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire-type survey. Results: Of the antibiotics dispensed, 61.7% were provided in full, 99% belonged to the National Essential Medicines List (PNUME), 66% were prescribed using the International Nonproprietary Name (INN), 84% indicated the dosage, 91% indicated the frequency, and 76.2% specified the duration of treatment. Only 2% of the antibiotics were substituted for another. Conclusion: The most frequent problems to which patients are exposed when receiving a medical prescription were identified. It was estimated that 99% of the antibiotics dispensed with a medical prescription belonged to the National Essential Medicines List, which indicates compliance with the PNUME. It was determined that the percentage of antibiotics prescribed under their International Nonproprietary Name was 65.8%, reflecting a lack of adherence to Law 29459. It was also estimated that the proportion of antibiotics dispensed and sold in full was 61.7%.
