Publicación Acceso abierto Uso de herramientas digitales educativas para mejorar las actitudes hacia la matemática en estudiantes de sexto grado del Instituto Técnico en Comunicación Barrancabermeja, 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-19) Díaz Plata, Mary Denis; Huaita Acha, Delsi MarielaThe low academic results in the area of mathematics in sixth grade students from an official institution in the city of Barrancabermeja, Colombia, leads to high percentages of school failure. This problem is approached from quantitative research with a quasiexperimental design, whose main objective was to determine the influence of the use of educational digital tools to improve attitudes towards Mathematics. The sample was made up of 146 sixth grade students. Initially, a diagnostic questionnaire was applied to identify the attitudes that students have towards mathematics. Subsequently, an intervention was carried out from the use of some educational digital tools. Finally, the application of the diagnostic questionnaire was repeated to find out if the intervention had an impact on improving children's attitudes towards mathematics. The results show that contrary to what one might think, liking, confidence, motivation, as well as the perception of the usefulness of mathematics are not determinants to explain school failure. Therefore, the issue of attitudes towards mathematics is only one of other factors that may be affecting learning and academic results. It is concluded, however, that the influence of the use of digital tools in improving attitudes towards Mathematics is decisive, since it was evident that after the intervention in the classroom the students showed higher levels of confidence, pleasure and motivation towards to mathematics.
