Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the Pap smear compared to other tests for early diagnosis of cervical cancer in women of reproductive age(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-01-06) Daga Díaz, Maria Antonieta; Valdivieso Aquije, Judith Jacquelin; Glenni Garay, Zarely ZabeliMaterials and Methods: Systematic Review that synthesizes the results of multiple investigations, identifying the most relevant to answer specific questions of daily practice. The search was restricted to articles with full text subjected to critical reading, using the GRADE system to assign the strength of recommendation. In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, finding that 40% (04) correspond to Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Peru, 30% (03) to Belgium, Greece, Spain, 20% (02) to the USA and 10% ( 10) to Asia. Of the Studies, 30% correspond to Systematic Reviews, 30% Descriptive correlational type, 20% Randomized Clinical Trials and 20% Cases and Controls. Results: 50% of the articles reviewed consider the need to complement the PAP with the Colposcopy exam as diagnostic support, while 30% mention that the PAP should be accompanied by the HPV test and 20% affirm that the Pap smear It is the best test for early detection of cervical cancer. Conclusions: In 5 of the 10 articles reviewed on the effectiveness of PAP compared to other examinations, it is evident that colposcopy is a complementary examination in the definitive diagnosis of cervical cancer in women of childbearing age.
