    Cellular descriptors in plasmacytes of bone marrow smears from patients with hematological neoplasia in the INEN – 2021

    Cellular descriptors change the perspective of a hematology laboratory, enabling significant technological advances, ease of cellular recognition, and a larger morphological database. They also facilitate the reading of qualitative data by transforming it into quantitative, thus avoiding subjectivity between operators. This improves quality, time, and costs, offering a better outlook with enhanced education and training. The objective of this study is to analyze cellular descriptors in plasmacytes from bone marrow smears of patients with hematologic neoplasms at INEN in 2021. This study focuses on hematologic neoplasms, particularly plasma cell neoplasms, where plasmocytes proliferate and migrate to peripheral blood in advanced stages of the disease. Proper diagnosis in bone marrow smears is critical for timely intervention. Using our image database and cellular descriptors, plasmocytes will be described geometrically and colorimetrically.
