Ricinus communis L., known as castor oil, is a plant whose seeds contain an essential oil with emollient, antimicrobial, and anti inflammatory properties. This study aimed to develop and conduct the organoleptic, physicochemical, and microbiological evaluation of a skin cream using Ricinus communis L. essential oil in Lima. Methodology: A hypothetical-deductive method was used, along with a mixed approach, a basic, experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive approach. Creams were developed with a 2% concentration of Ricinus communis L. essential oil. The evaluation included organoleptic, physicochemical, and microbiological tests in a pilot study of five 20 g bottles. Results: The cream has a homogeneous, creamy appearance, a whitish color, a semisolid texture with good structural stability, and acceptable sensory characteristics. Physicochemical analysis determined a pH of 4.32, slightly below the permitted range, but compatible with the natural pH of the skin, making it suitable for cosmetic use. Microbiological testing revealed the absence of molds and yeasts (<5 CFU/g) and a total viable mesophilic aerobic count within the established limits (5 CFU/g), ensuring the product's safety. Conclusion: The cream with Ricinus communis L. essential oil displayed adequate organoleptic and physicochemical characteristics and the absence of microbiological contamination, indicating its viability as a natural cosmetic product. These findings contribute to the development of safe and effective alternatives in natural cosmetics.
