Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of saturated steam sterilization with pre-vacuum and gravity systems in optimizing sterilization of medical instruments(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-04) Delgado Camones, Jenny Margot; Suclla Sanchez, Juliane Patricia; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To systematically analyze the evidence of the effectiveness of the saturated steam sterilization process with pre-vacuum and gravity systems in optimizing the sterilization of instruments for medical use. Materials and Methods: Systematic review design, population of 10 articles, sample of 6 scientific articles. Results: 6 articles were selected, coming from the United Kingdom, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and China, respectively; being that 100% of studies (n=6/6) show that the sterilization method using saturated steam autoclaves is effective; 33% of studies used gravity equipment, 83.3% (n=5/6) used pre-vacuum equipment. 66.6% (n=4/6) were monitored, they measured effectiveness: 50% used biological indicators negative for the growth of microorganisms; 16.6% used the thermometric method, failing the gravity equipment, in 83.3% that used pre-vacuum equipment it was 100% effective. 16.6% ensure effectiveness of sterilization of armed laparoscopic material; 16.6% evidence that medical instruments should be sterilized, not chemically disinfected. Conclusions: Research shows that the physical method of sterilization with saturated steam autoclaves, with pre-vacuum and gravity systems are effective, optimizing the sterilization of material for medical use.
