Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge about the self-care of patients with diabetic foot and its relationship with practices in patients treated on an outpatient basis at the “Milagritos“ Podiatry Center in the district of Pueblo Libre-Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-16) Diaz Aguirre, Rocio Milagros; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeObjective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and self-care practices in patients with diabetic foot who are treated on an outpatient basis at the Podological Center “Milagritos” in the district of Pueblo Libre from January to March 2022. Material and method: The type of research is descriptive-correlational with a quantitative approach. The design is non-experimental and cross-sectional, including 50 patients from the “Milagritos” Podological Center. The survey technique was used, and the instrument was a questionnaire with closed-ended questions, some open-ended questions, and a Likert scale, according to the information requirements to achieve the objectives of this work. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. For the questionnaire used, a value of 0.85 was obtained, which indicates a high level of confidence for the use of this instrument. Results: The study shows a direct relationship between knowledge about self-care and the practices applied by diabetic patients. The Pearson coefficient, with a value less than 0.05, indicates a significant relationship, as reflected by the majority of the patients and their practical application to maintain a healthy life. Most patients know the importance of exercising, the type of socks they should wear, and the need to consult specialists to check their injuries. This knowledge is practiced with a healthy diet with low sodium levels, regular weight monitoring, water consumption, and engaging in sports activities, factors that the majority report doing as part of their daily routine, resulting in significant health benefits.
