    The learning strategies are tools that can influence school results, making special reference to the university level. This is because the variables that condition academic performance in the different grades of education are considerable and complex for the identification of each one. That is why this research was aimed at knowing the incidence of learning strategies in the academic performance of students of the UDES Nursing Program at the University of Santander Bucaramanga 2016. The project was carried out to a population of 200 students belonging to the nursing program of which a sample of 82 students is taken, where 39 are men and 43 women with ages ranging between 16 and 40 years, an instrument was applied is a questionnaire taken from the Autonomous Work Strategies (CETA), designed by López (2010) taking into account its dimensions such as Enlargement, Collaboration, Conceptualization, Planning, Exam Preparation and Participation strategies. A level of significance of 10% was chosen. The use of strategies by students differs according to semester and gender. In general, the academic performance was higher in the students who reported greater use of the strategies. It was concluded that the Collaboration strategies are positively associated with the academic performance in a significant way (p = 0.097), while the other strategies did not reach significance.
