Ítem Acceso abierto Prevalence of malnutrition in patients in the Intensive Care Unit of Santa Rosa Hospital – 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-06-27) Duffoo Marroquín, Melina Lisset; León Cáceres, Johanna del CarmenOBJECTIVE: Determine the prevalence of malnutrition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Santa Rosa Hospital in the period from January to December 2017. DESIGN: This descriptive study included 133 patients who were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Santa Rosa Hospital in the period from January to December 2017. At the time of admission, the nutritional evaluation of the patients was carried out using the Subjective Global Assessment format. (VGS) which results in an admission nutritional diagnosis. RESULTS: 46% of the population was female, the average age of the population was 62.3 (SD +-18.1) years. Regarding stress levels, it was found that 65% had moderate stress upon admission to the ICU (Table II). The analysis of the VGS carried out showed that 53% of the participants were at risk of malnutrition or mild malnutrition and 35% presented severe malnutrition upon admission to the unit (Table IV). CONCLUSION: The present study found that in-hospital malnutrition affected almost three quarters of the population studied; The caloric and protein malnutrition found was greater than that found in a previous study carried out in our country, but this may be due to the work being done in other services where the patients were not in such critical states.
