Ítem Acceso abierto Nursing interventions to promote the effectiveness of phototherapy in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-04) Guzman Carpio, Claudia Sofía; Egoavil Calizaya, Johana Evelyn; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleMethodology: Systematic review, observational and retrospective, the search was restricted to full-text articles, and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using the GRADE assessment to identify their level of evidence. Results: Ten articles were selected; 50% (5) are from Brazil, 20% (2) from Mexico, and 30% from India, Spain, and Malaysia. Of these, 90% state that the success of hyperbilirubinemia treatment depends on factors such as the type of light used (halogen or LED), the neonate's age, bilirubin levels, exposure time to phototherapy, position change, light distance, use of eye protection, and the use of white sheets as they will favor bilirubin breakdown in the neonate's body without causing collateral damage. Conclusions: Nursing interventions need to be standardized through a protocol that ensures proper phototherapy, specifying mandatory eye protection during light therapy, as well as its suspension during diaper changes and feeding, to reduce the neonate's hospital stay. Additionally, integrating the mother into the care process is essential to maintain the mother-child bond.
