Publicación Acceso abierto Interacciones medicamentosas potenciales en prescripciones médicas atendidas en el servicio de cuidados intensivos del neonato del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé durante el periodo de abril–agosto de 2016(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-01-29) Espinoza Castro, Pilar Carmen; Caldas Herrera, EmmaThe objective of this study was to identify the most frequent potential drug interactions (PDIs) in medical prescriptions attended in the neonatal intensive care unit of HONADOMANI “San Bartolomé.” Materials and Methods: The study was descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective. A total of 247 medical prescriptions from April to August 2016 were analyzed. The Micromedex and Drugs Interaction Checker databases were used, where 169 (68%) prescriptions presented at least one potential drug interaction. The most frequent diagnosis was neonatal bacterial sepsis, representing 130 cases (53%). The most prescribed medications were: ampicillin 500 mg amp, 119 (11%), followed by gentamicin 80 mg amp, 108 (10%), caffeine citrate 20 mg/ml amp, 108 (10%), and vancomycin 500 mg amp, 72 (7%). According to their mechanism of occurrence, 196 (37%) were pharmaceutical in nature, 191 (36%) pharmacodynamic, 119 (23%) pharmacokinetic, and 19 (4%) unknown. According to the severity level of PDIs, 210 (40%) were minor, 173 (33%) moderate, 136 (26%) major, and 6 (1%) contraindicated. According to the databases, 360 (69%) of the potential drug interactions found were reported in both drug databases. Conclusion: The results indicate that newborn patients are exposed to potential drug interactions.
