    Effect of omega 3 on the nutritional support of the patient with gastrointestinal cancer.

    Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is a highly complex disease, with a 5-year survival rate of less than 5%. According to the pancreatic cancer registry in Lima, there are 3,932 cases known, only in the period 2020. Which represents one of the cancers with a high probability of increasing in the coming decades. The objective of the present review was to know if supplementation with Omega-3 can improve the treatment or prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used, with which the search strategy was developed using the descriptors for the different databases. The information search was carried out in Scopus, Science Direct and Pubmed, subsequently they were evaluated with the Spanish Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASPe) tool, to then select the article that best answers the research question. In conclusion, this research guides health professionals to know the inclusion of omega 3 as a complementary form in the management of gastrointestinal cancer and may be a reference for the multidisciplinary team of professionals who care for patients with pancreatic cancer.
