The articles for the preparation of this work were obtained from the following databases; Pubmed, Scielo, Medline, Dialnet, ProQuest and Google scholar. Of the 10 national and international research articles, 50% are clinical trials, 20% of each are systematic reviews and quasi-experimental and 10% experimental. According to the quality of the evidence, it was found to be high at 90% and medium at 10% and according to the strength of the recommendation it is 100% strong. Depending on the country where the investigations were carried out, 80% correspond to Spain and 10% each to Mexico and Brazil. Results: According to the review of the articles, it is evident that 80% indicate that the preoperative nursing visit is effective in reducing anxiety in patients undergoing surgery and 20% indicate that it is not effective. Conclusions: It is concluded that 8 of 10 scientific articles demonstrate that the preoperative nursing visit is effective in reducing anxiety in patients undergoing surgery and 2 of 10 demonstrate that it is not effective.
