    Relación del consumo de ansiolíticos y crisis de ansiedad en la pandemia SARS-CoV-2 en el asentamiento humano Bocanegra febrero–septiembre 2022

    Currently, the increased consumption of psychotropic drugs is an issue that often goes unnoticed, as they are used to treat and alleviate mental health problems, leading in some cases to dependency or self-medication. This situation worsened during the pandemic as the population became increasingly anxious until the end of 2022. Objective: To address the rising consumption of anxiolytics and the anxiety crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: This was an observational basic study with a correlational-cross-sectional level, using a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design. A survey was conducted among the population of the Bocanegra Human Settlement, with a total of 150 voluntary participants. Results: The Spearman’s rho non-parametric test yielded 0.767, indicating an association between the variables of anxiolytic consumption and anxiety crises. The consumption rate of anxiolytics was calculated at 41.3%, while the anxiety crisis rate was 44%. Women showed a higher prevalence, with 51.3%, and the age group most affected was between 50-59 years, with 27.5%. This group reported that the most frequently consumed anxiolytics were benzodiazepines, particularly alprazolam (38.7%) and diazepam (31.3%). Conclusion: It was concluded that there is a direct proportional relationship between the two variables. The consumption of anxiolytics and anxiety crises increased significantly during the pandemic.
