Consumption of blueberries in the variation of salivary pH in primary school students of the Los Ingenieros Educational Institution, Lima 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-06) Chira Elias, Fidel Kane; Evaristo Quipas, Pamela
It has been scientifically proven that a compound found in blueberries called proanthocyanidin, a high molecular weight polyphenol, has properties that inhibit and prevent the bacterial biofilms responsible for dental plaque, thereby inhibiting the development of pathogenic bacteria that cause periodontal tissue degradation. It also prevents bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans, the causative agent of cavities, from forming acids that weaken dental tissues and facilitate the accommodation of harmful bacteria inside damaged teeth. The study aims to determine the relationship between blueberry consumption and changes in salivary pH in primary school students at the Los Ingenieros Educational Institution, Lima 2022. The study methodology is based on a hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental design. The study population will consist of 200 students from the Los Ingenieros Educational Institution. The study method will be recorded using data collection forms for processing and obtaining results and hypothesis testing.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-04) Herrera López, Pamela Naduska; Evaristo Quipas, Pamela
This thesis aimed to determine the relationship between malocclusion and breastfeeding type in patients aged 6 to 13 years treated at the Universidad Norbert Wiener Dental Clinic in Lima, 2023. A quantitative, applied, observational study design was used, with data collection being cross-sectional. For this, 70 children aged 6 to 13 who attended the dental center were evaluated, and a structured data collection form was used in three sections: the first collected personal data of the children; the second gathered information on breastfeeding type and duration; and the last section covered the type of malocclusion. It was found that 38.6% of the children had Class I malocclusion type 1, and of these, 17.1% received exclusive breastfeeding. Regarding the dimensions by malocclusion type, 54% of the children with Class I malocclusion had Class I type 1, and 24.0% of these were exclusively breastfed; of the children with Class II malocclusion, 50.0% had Class II div 2, and 25.0% of these received exclusive breastfeeding; of the children with Class III malocclusion, 37.5% had Class III type 3, and 12.5% of these were exclusively breastfed. Furthermore, the hypothesis test showed that the p-value was greater than 0.05, accepting H0, indicating that there is no relationship between the variables. It was concluded that there is no relationship between malocclusion and breastfeeding type in patients treated at the Universidad Norbert Wiener Dental Clinic in Lima, 2023.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-13) García Bazalar, Gisela Estefanía; Evaristo Quipas, Pamela
The objective of this thesis was to determine the influence of parafunctional habits on malocclusions in schoolchildren from an educational institution in Lima, 2023. A quantitative, applied, observational, and cross-sectional design was used. The study evaluated 109 schoolchildren aged 6 to 12 years, using a data collection sheet structured in three defined sections: the first part gathered sociodemographic characteristics, the second consisted of 21 questions to investigate the presence of parafunctional habits, which were then clinically verified, and the third part checked for the presence of malocclusions. It was observed that 14 schoolchildren (12.8%) with a lip sucking habit presented a sagittal plane malocclusion, 20% presented lip sucking and posterior crossbite, 13.4% presented lip sucking and class I malocclusion, and 23.5% presented digital sucking and onychophagia with anterior deep bite. The p-value was less than 0.05, accepting H1, indicating that there is an influence, and the Spearman Rho value was 0.241, showing a weak positive correlation. Conclusion: There is a significant influence of parafunctional habits on malocclusions in schoolchildren from an educational institution in Lima, 2023

Relationship between dental fluorosis and self-esteem in patients who attend a private dental clinic, Lima 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-07) Quispe Alberto, Rocío Roxana; Evaristo Quipas, Pamela
The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between dental fluorosis and self-esteem in patients attending a private dental clinic. The study was quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, with 60 adolescents aged 12 to 17 years participating. To assess the degree of fluorosis, the Dean Index was used, and for self-esteem, the Rosenberg Scale was used. The technique employed was observation using a validated data collection instrument. It was found that, among the 8 patients with grade 1 dental fluorosis, 37.5% had low self-esteem, another 37.5% had high self-esteem, and 25% had medium self-esteem. This suggests that among patients with grade 1 dental fluorosis, there is a balanced distribution between low and high self-esteem levels. Among the 28 patients with grade 2, 60.7% had medium self-esteem, indicating that most presented at this level. Among the 11 patients with grade 3 fluorosis, 54.5% had low self-esteem, showing the highest correlation. Among the 8 patients with grade 4 fluorosis, 87.5% had low self-esteem, representing the highest frequency. Finally, among the 5 patients with grade 5 fluorosis, 80% had low self-esteem, showing the highest correlation at this level. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between dental fluorosis and self-esteem level (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05).
