The sampling technique used was non-probabilistic for convenience, the sample consisted of 141 fourth-year cadets to whom previously validated and reliable questionnaires were applied. The results showed that 4.3% of the total cadets considered themselves to have a low level of emotional intelligence, 27.7% a regular level and 68.1% a high level. Regarding the civic competencies variable, 2.8% considered themselves to have a low level, while 34% a regular level and 63.1% a high level. Likewise, the statistical result obtained was p = 0.000 < 0.05; rho = 0.518, which means that there is a positive relationship and of considerable intensity. It was concluded that a greater development of emotional intelligence leads to a greater development of civic competencies in the cadets of the National Police of Peru.
